Questions frequently asked by Women

The big question………Does it hurt?
Well, I'm not going to say its completely pain free, but what I will say is that it really isn't as bad as you think. It may feel a little uncomfortable (remember you are having hairs pulled out, including the root) but I have been trained by the best and use the one of the finest quality waxes, which makes my waxing technique more comfortable than others you may have had.
How often should I get waxed?
Most people are ready for another wax after 3 to 6 weeks. The wax I use is of high quality so will remove much shorter hair: there is none of that waiting for weeks to get the hair long enough for it all to be removed! If you are a new client you may find that the hair seems to grow back quite quickly the first few times, so I would suggest that initially you come every 3 to 4 weeks. This will allow the hair to reach a similar growth cycle and you will then find that you will be able to stretch the visits to every 5 to 6 weeks and the hair will be sparser, making the treatment much more comfortable.
How long does the hair have to be?
I suggest that you should have at least 3 weeks growth before having another waxing treatment as the hair may not be quite long enough. I would then have to spend most of my time with the tweezers which, trust me, will be more uncomfortable for you!
How do I prevent ingrown hairs?
Unfortunately, ingrown hairs seem to come with the territory, but you can certainly help to minimize them. Don't do anything for first the 48 hours but then after this regular exfoliation is a must. This only needs to be done two or three times a week and you can use a gentle scrub or brush but please remember…. be gentle, as over exfoliation can cause ingrown hairs by damaging the skin. Moisturising daily is also very important to keep the skin supple and allow the hairs to grow through the skin.
I have started my period and am booked in for a Brazilian. What do I do?
You can still have a wax so long as you are wearing a tampon and are clean and fresh…. worry not!
Can I have a wax if I'm pregnant?
'Yes, you can' is the answer to that and many ladies like to be tidied up before their due date. Some ladies find it a little more sensitive than normal, but due to the type of wax I use the treatment will be bearable.
Will I be very sore afterwards?
The answer to that is no. Some clients may notice some redness and occasional blood spotting, usually seen in the areas that have very strong hairs such as bikini area or underarms. These are completely normal reactions and usually clear in 2 to 24 hours (everyone is different).
What sort of wax do you use?
I use two different types of wax depending on the area being waxed and the strength of the hairs. Perron Rigot offer the finest quality waxes, pre and post-waxing products. The strip wax is hypoallergenic, usable at low temperatures and specifically designed for sensitive skins. Non strip wax (also known as hot wax) again is a low temperature wax and is applied over lightly oiled skin. It shrink wraps around the hair and is then removed. This is the perfect wax to use on coarse, strong and short hairs - giving great results.
Do I need to book an appointment or can I just walk in?
I do work on an appointment only system so please give me a ring, text, or email. If I don't answer the phone straight away it maybe that I am busy with a client, so please leave a message giving me an idea of what days and times are suitable for you, but please remember to leave your name and contact details.
Hollywoods and Brazilians. If I've never had one what can I expect?
I will start by having a short consultation with you, giving you all the details on what to expect during the treatment. I will also need to check that you are suitable for the treatment by asking you a few questions such as allergies etc. You will then be asked to remove everything from the waist down, that includes your knickers too! I will leave you to get undressed and make yourself comfortable on the treatment couch. I supply cleansing wipes in the treatment room but I would kindly ask that you come to the appointment as clean and fresh as possible. When I return I will work my magic and you will leave…………..smooth as!
What is the difference between a Hollywood and a Brazilian?
A Hollywood removes all hair (and I mean ALL hair!) This includes that on the labia, perineum and anus. A Brazilian is the same as a Hollywood but a small strip is left at the front.
Aftercare

The following applies for at least 24 hours unless stated otherwise.

* After a treatment a warm bath or shower is OK but please avoid hot or excessively hot water.
* Avoid any heat treatments such as saunas, hot tubs, sunbathing and sun-beds.
* If you have had any facial hair removed please don't put on any makeup.
* Avoid touching the area.
* Avoid chlorinated swimming pools.
* Don't use any perfumed products such as deodorant or moisturisers.
* After a few days remember to gently exfoliate (a few times a week) and apply plenty of moisturiser to help prevent ingrown hairs.

There is the potential to cause infection and inflammation to the area treated if the above aftercare is not followed.
